Mitrade Foundation Joins Teach for Thailand to Support Education in Bangkok
On 24-25 September 2026, Mitrade Foundation spent two days with Teach for Thailand, attending a Fellow training workshop and visiting Mathayom Wat Dusitaram School in Bangkok. The visit offered a closer look at how the organisation prepares teachers and supports students in underserved communities.
Education inequality rarely makes the news. Instead, it often goes unnoticed: in a classroom without enough qualified teachers, in a school with limited resources, or in a student who could have gone further with the right support and guidance.
Mitrade Foundation is committed to supporting causes that are often overlooked, and education access is one of them. That led us to Teach for Thailand's Fellowship Programme, which places full-time teachers in the schools that need them most.
Mathayom Wat Dusitaram School, in Thailand’s Bangkok Noi District, is one of the schools working to close this gap, one Fellow and one classroom at a time.
Why We Worked With Teach for Thailand
Teach for Thailand has spent over 12 years working to improve access to quality education. Founded in 2012, the organisation recruits and trains outstanding individuals to become full-time teachers in underserved schools through its two-year Fellowship Programme.
Since its founding, Teach for Thailand has reached more than 160,000 students nationwide. Today, 79 Fellows teach across 46 schools in 17 provinces, while more than 401 alumni continue to contribute to education, public policy and social innovation.
“At Mitrade Foundation, we are constantly looking to deepen our involvement in education and knowledge development. It was a valuable opportunity to observe the Fellowship Programme up close and to better understand how our support contributes to the Fellows’ preparation. We are grateful to have the opportunity to support them at this stage of their journey, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will make in the years ahead,” said CZ Chua, Director of Mitrade Foundation.
From Teacher Training to the Classroom
On 24 September, our director joined Teach for Thailand's Fellows at M Academy in Bangkok for a training workshop on ethical standards and professionalism. These sessions help prepare Fellows for the responsibilities of teaching and challenges they may face in the classroom.
The following day, our director travelled to Mathayom Wat Dusitaram School to see how the Fellows put their training into practice. The morning began with an icebreaking escape room activity that encouraged students to work in teams, solve clues, and get to know one another, with guidance from their Fellow.
The visit continued with a session on practicum preparation and lesson planning, the unglamorous groundwork behind every lesson that looks effortless once it's delivered.
Across the two days, we gained a better understanding of the time, effort and commitment that go into preparing Fellows for their roles as teachers.
Supporting Education, One Classroom at a Time
Improving access to education takes time, dedication and people who are willing to make a difference.
One Fellow cannot solve Thailand's education challenges alone. But one Fellow, teaching 150 students over two years, can help these students strengthen their skills, build their confidence and discover new opportunities for their future.
Teach for Thailand understands the challenges its Fellows face and the needs of the schools they serve. Through our support, Mitrade Foundation hopes to help the organisation continue its work and reach more students who can benefit from it.
For Mitrade Foundation, supporting this programme is an opportunity to contribute to better access to education while learning from the people working directly with students every day.
We believe that every child deserves the chance to reach their potential, and that meaningful change can begin with one teacher, one classroom and one student at a time.
